Invitation to Middle and High School HIV/AIDS and Pregnancy Prevention
Workshop: “
Promoting Prevention Together”
in Panama City, Florida
The Department of Education’s Coordinated School Health Program (CSHP) in the Office of Safe
and Healthy Schools is sponsoring a winter workshop for teachers, school nurses, Department of
Health personnel, school social workers, parents, and students, titled “
Promoting Prevention
Together.”
This workshop will be offered on
January 18, 2006, in Panama City, Florida, at

The workshop is offered in collaboration with school districts, Bay County Health Department,

and Big Bend Area Health Education Center. The purpose of this workshop is to provide
training in abstinence education, human sexuality, HIV/STD, and pregnancy prevention
education, instructional strategies, and classroom activities.
District health coordinators, school district instructional staff, school nurses, school social
workers, staff from local health departments, and parents are encouraged to participate. School
districts will be reimbursed for the substitutes of teachers who attend these workshops, if needed.
The workshop will be limited to the first 125 participants who register. Certificates of
attendance will be provided to participants who wish to apply for Continuing Education Units.
Area high school students, with their parents’ permission, may also attend this workshop. A
keynote presentation for youth will be presented by Dr. Stephen Fallon. Dr. Fallon is an award
winning, nationally published science and editorial writer

youth. School districts will be responsible for providing transportation and collecting field trip
permission forms for students who attend the workshop.

form must be submitted by fax to the Florida Department of Education’s Coordinated School
