    As you know, Florida’s focus on reading and accountability is paying tremendous
    dividends, and our students are making great strides. Thank you for ensuring that third
    grade students receive the high quality instruction, intervention, and assistance that
    they need to be successful.
    To support your efforts in providing useful resources to parents of third grade students,
    we have developed two documents to assist you. They are available in English and
    Spanish.

    . This booklet is designed to help parents of third-grade students
    understand legislative provisions regarding student progression.

    . This flyer is designed to alert parents to the reading practice
    available online to improve their child’s reading skills.
    Both documents can be accessed at
    http://www.firn.edu/doe/commhome/sig/parents.htm. In addition, we are mailing copies
    of the Read to Learn brochures to the district Director of Elementary Education in
    sufficient quantity for each third grade parent to have a copy.
