Public Input on High School Reform
As you know, Commissioner Winn recently convened a High School Reform Task Force and established six
goals for this group to review and make recommendations for implementati
Two goals will be discussed at each of the first three meetings. Following each meeting, recommendations for
each goal will be posted on the Department’s High School Reform website, with the opportunity for you to
provide your input and feedback. The website is http://www.fldoe.org/hsreform/.

Goal 1:
Increase the academic achievement of levels of high school students
Goal 2:
Increase the percent of high school graduates
November 28: Goal 3:
Increase the percent of graduates entering a postsecondary career path or further
training with qualifications earned through Florida high school programs
Goal 4:
Increase the percent of graduates prepared to enter postsecondary institutions
without remediation
December 12:

Goal 5:
Increase the level of rigor of high school math and science instruction
Goal 6:
Increase the percent of teachers prepared to teach advanced courses at grades 6-12
The Department will send e-mail reminders to superintendents, principals, and teachers once the
recommendations are posted after each meeting. Please pass this information along to your staff and other
education stakeholders who might like to provide input.
