September 13 – December 1:

Student sweepstakes for a laptop computer and leather backpack runs on FACTS.org
website; entrants must complete an ePEP and register on FACTS.org to enter.
September 6 – 16:

Presentations to and handouts for guidance counselors on the annual SUS admissions
workshop tour.
September – October:
?
Student user groups trained at the following locations:

Plantation High School in Broward County,

Southwest Miami Senior High School in Dade County,

?
Jones High School and Ocoee High School in Orange County,

Articles about ePEP sent to key Florida education associations/organizations, parent/teacher
organizations and student organizations for inclusion in their newsletters or online sites.
Week of October 3-7:
Memo to District Superintendents sent via email (cc: district and school contacts).
PSAs announcing the arrival of the new ePEP begin running on the Florida Knowledge
Network.

School media specialists may want to download the PSAs and facilitate student viewing. *
?
Request to post a link to the FACTS.org site promoting new ePEP sent to webmasters at all
high schools, school district offices, and student and professional organizations.
?
District and school webmasters can post a link announcing the new ePEP on their websites. *
?
Complete ePEP information kit mailed to high school guidance counselors. The information
kit includes the following materials:

For Guidance Counselors: a fact sheet and pocket guide on using the new ePEP;
?
frequently asked questions and answers; a statistical review supporting rigorous
?
coursework and higher education; a flyer for College Night events; a list of ways to
?
integrate ePEP into school life.
?
o
For Parents: a fact sheet for parents and the general public; a flyer for Parents’ Night; an
article that could run in a newsletter or web page for parents.
o
For Students: an article for the student newspaper or website; an ad for the student
newspaper or website; a radio or school announcement PSA (that can be read over the
public address system or at assemblies).

Posters and oversized post cards for students mailed to high school guidance counselors.
?
Guidance Counselors requested to put posters in high traffic areas and to distribute post
cards to 9th grade students, or as they deem appropriate. *
Week of October 10-14:

Letter from Commissioner Winn mailed to parents of 9th grade students, encouraging them
to discuss planning for the future with their children and to use the new ePEP.
Thursday, October 13:

ePEP tutorials on CDs mailed to high school guidance counselors.

Guidance counselors can use the tutorials with student and parent groups during “Plan Your
Future Day” or at any other time they deem appropriate. *

District PIOs can request the tutorial on DVD from FACTS.org, or the Florida Knowledge
Network, in order to air it on local access ITV channels on October 20 for “Plan Your
Future Day” or other times during the week of October 17 and beyond. *
October 17-21:
?
ePEP tutorial runs each day at noon on the Florida Knowledge Network.
?
Media specialists at high schools may want to download the tutorial and play it at
appropriate times for their schools. *
Monday, October 17:
?
Statewide news release officially launching the new ePEP.
?
District PIOs may want to customize and send the release to local media contacts. *
Tuesday, October 18:
Presentation of the new ePEP tutorial at the State Board of Education meeting at Broward
Community College.
ePEP tutorial posted online at FACTS.org.
Thursday, October 20:

“Plan Your Future Day” at Florida high schools *
High schools may participate in any way they choose, including the following:
o

Announce the day in appropriate school settings and encouraging students to log on to
FACTS.org and create their own e-Personal Education Planner *
?
o
Announce the drawing for the laptop for all students who create an ePEP *
?
o
Show the ePEP tutorial in an assembly or appropriate classes *
?
o
Incorporate use of the ePEP in appropriate classes *
?
o
Hold high school or district-wide competitions for the most ePEPs completed *
?

ePEP Promotional Activities
o
Post an article about the new ePEP on the high school website and/or in the student

Post an article for parents about the new ePEP online or in a parent newsletter *

District PIOs may want to conduct media relations activities, encouraging local coverage of
