SUBJECT: “Let’s Talk About Brain Injury: Innovative Clinical Practices”
As part of our commitment to provide a quality education to all students and increase the supply of highly
effective teachers in the Florida school system, the Department of Education is pleased to support the Brain
Injury Association of Florida’s upcoming 2005 Professional Educational Conference, “Let’s Talk About
Brain Injury: Innovative Clinical Practices.” The conference will provide professionals working in the field
of traumatic brain injury (TBI) an opportunity to acquire additional knowledge as it pertains to serving the
needs of individuals in schools. Some of the topics to be presented include:
•
New Technologies in Memory Training
•
School Age Children and Brain Injury
•
Emerging Legal Issues for Florida TBI Cases
•
Differentiation of Psychiatric Disorders and TBI Behavior
•
Special Considerations for Driving After TBI
The 2005 Professional Educational Conference will be held October 20-21, 2005, in Coral Springs, Florida,
at the Heron Bay Marriott, located at 11775 Heron Bay Blvd., Coral Springs, Florida 33076, (954) 753-5598.
In an effort to assist school districts in serving children with TBI, the Bureau of Exceptional Education and
Student Services will pay the registration fee for one team per district, made up of individuals who work with
students with traumatic brain injury (i.e., coordinator for the physically impaired program, exceptional
student education teacher, school psychologist, occupational and physical therapists), to attend the
conference.
