Enclosed is the annually updated technical assistance document developed for schools and School
Advisory Councils (SACs) to facilitate efforts in evaluating school improvement processes. This
document includes strategies and examples for evaluating the following:
needs assessment process;
identification of goals, objectives, strategies, and definitions of adequate progress;
analysis of student achievement data;
success of implementing school improvement strategies; and
determination of the overall impact of school improvement plan initiatives.
The intent is that this will be a working document. Pages have been included where councils might write
notes while planning progresses or log ideas that are shared during meetings. Included is an appendix
section,
Data Analysis Worksheets,
a tool that the school can use to analyze student achievement data and
develop school improvement plans based on the analysis.

template, an additional tool provided to you to assist you with your school improvement efforts. This
