Technical Assistance Paper, Jessica Lunsford Act
Attached is a Technical Assistance Paper (TAP) for the Jessica Lunsford Act which was passed by
the 2005 Florida Legislature and signed into law by Governor Bush following the assault and murder
of Jessica Lunsford in Homosassa Springs, Florida. The Jessica Lunsford Act focuses primarily on
increasing the measures used to monitor sexual offenders or predators with specifications related to
individuals with access to school district campuses.
This TAP is to provide assistance to districts and contractual personnel to implement section
1012.465, Florida Statutes, as amended by the 2005 Legislature. It consists of information
concerning district responsibilities; disqualification of individuals required to meet level two
screening as described in section 1012.32, Florida Statutes; and a section designed with various
sample questions and answers.
