MEMORANDUM
TO:
District School Superintendents
FROM:
Wayne V. Pierson
SUBJECT:
Dollars to the Classroom
Section 236.08102, F.S., and proviso language within the FEFP appropriation have
established a minimum classroom expenditure requirement for districts that fail to
meet minimum academic performance standards. The expenditure requirement for
2002-03 is based on the academic performance data currently available to the
Department.
Incomplete and appealed grades are not included in this data.
Attached to this memorandum is the Department’s calculation for each district’s
status with regard to these standards. This information is necessary to prepare the
budget advertisement requirement by Section 237.081, F.S.
The calculation uses school grade data available to the Department as of June 30,
2002.
However, some districts may have unresolved appeals of grades or
incomplete grades for specific schools. If the satisfactory resolution of appeals and
incompletes would alter the district’s standing above or below the minimum
performance standards specified in proviso language, the following statement may be
included with the advertisement:
The information in this advertisement may change, subject to
satisfactory resolution of the ongoing appeals of school grades.
