    Dear Student:
I am pleased to inform you that you may be eligible for admission to a state university in Florida based solely on
your academic performance in high school. You have been identified as ranking in the top 20% of your graduating
class and may qualify for the Talented 20 Program, as well as the Bright Futures Scholarship Program and other
    scholarship opportunities.
To qualify for the Talented 20 Program, you must:
    ™

be enrolled in a Florida public high school and graduate with a standard diploma in 2005
    ™

be ranked in the top 20% of your class after the posting of seventh semester grades (with validation of eighth
    semester ranking)
    ™

take the ACT or SAT prior to completing the first semester in college (no minimum score is required)
    ™

complete all eighteen college preparatory credits as specified in State Board of Education Rules
As a Talented 20 eligible student, you are guaranteed admission at one of the eleven state universities and are given
priority for the awarding of funds from the Florida Student Assistance Grant (FSAG), if you qualify. Please note
that while eligible students are guaranteed admission at one of the state universities, they may not necessarily be
admitted to the school of their choice. You may wish to search http://www.FACTS.org for information concerning
    individual universities.
I also encourage you to review your transcript with your high school counselor to ensure that you have taken or are
registered for the courses necessary to meet the eighteen college preparatory credits for state university system
admission and to register for the ACT or SAT. To obtain information on state financial aid and scholarship
opportunities, including the FSAG and the Bright Futures Scholarship Program, visit
http://www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org or call 1(888) 827-2004, toll free. Again, congratulations on your current
academic performance and best wishes for your continued success.
    Sincerely,
    John Winn, Commissioner
