School Guidance Services
Florida continues to focus education resources to ensure that every Florida high school graduate is
prepared to be successful in postsecondary education and the workplace. It is important to increase
the proficiency levels of all students within the K20 seamless system by supporting rigorous and
relevant curriculum in the classroom and appropriate academic advisement that will enable students
to successfully transition from middle school to high school and on to postsecondary education or
the world of work.
To support this effort, the 2004 Legislature passed and the Governor signed into law House Bill 769
(HB 769) that amended several laws related to career and technical education. The bill directed the
Commissioner of Education to convene a study group to investigate issues related to workforce
education in Florida and submit the report to the Commissioner and the State Board of Education.
The report addressed improvements to articulation, implementation of i

completing your district report via the electronic system on May 2, 2005. This information must
be completed and submitted to the Department prior to June 30, 2005.
Department staff has developed many resources that facilitate the development of effective
