Dear Teachers, Lead Educators, School District Contacts, and Program Directors:
The Juvenile Justice Educational Enhancement Program (JJEEP) recognizes a continuing
need to honor outstanding teachers who contribute to the educational growth and
development of students in juvenile justice programs. JJEEP invites you to participate in
the
Juvenile Justice Teacher of the Year (TOY) Award for 2004 using the attached
application materials.
The TOY application continues to reflect the spirit of the No
Child Left Behind (NCLB) initiative
.
We appreciate your participation in the past and look forward to continuing the tradition
of recognizing the finest of Florida’s hardworking and talented juvenile justice teachers
from among the participants in the 2004 Juvenile Justice Teacher of the Year Award.
All
applicants must be currently teaching in DJJ facilities and must have been teaching
at a DJJ facility since January 2004.
Input provided by lead educators, Department of
Juvenile Justice/facility provider personnel, school district personnel, students, and
community members assists in the selection process. Judges from the Department of
Education, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and practicing teachers evaluate the
applications. Each regional winner will receive a plaque and a $500 award; and the
statewide winner will receive an additional $1000 honorarium.
JJEEP Teacher of the Year Committee members for 2004 are Kay Kincl, Linda Mailly,
Thelma Nolan, Julie Orange, Linda Rushing, Roy Scott, Stacy Stallworth, and Penny
Young.
