ASSISTANCE CENTERS REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL 2004-2005
We are pleased to announce extension of the deadline for the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the
2004-2005 NCLB Regional Technical Assistance Centers. As was announced in the draft RFP,
funds have been allocated on a competitive basis for technical assistance to local school districts.
These funds are to be used by the selected NCLB Regional Technical Assistance Centers to
assist Florida Department of Education (FDOE) in school improvement, parental involvement,
professional development, scientifically-based research and continuous improvement activities to
fully implement the requirements of Title I, Title III, and Title X of The No Child Left Behind
Act of 2001.

These centers will assist schools in the greatest need of improvement, with emphasis on those
that did not make adequate yearly progress (AYP); will provide support in implementing NCLB
requirements; will provide technical assistance to district and school personnel responsible for
Title I, Title III, and Title X program implementation; and will disseminate information on
scientifically-based education research.
If you had not responded to the draft proposal, you are invited to submit a proposal as described
in the enclosed Request for Proposal instructions. One original and three copies of the project
proposals are
due no later than close of business January 10, 2005
.
Proposals will be reviewed
in accordance with the process and scoring criteria outlined in the RFP. We anticipate notifying
applicants of the review outcomes by January 20, 2005.
School districts, consortia of school districts, universities and other educational institutions are
encouraged to submit an application. The project period is for three (3) years. The budget is
renewable for additional years of funding, if the previous year’s deliverables are satisfactory and
funds are available. The beginning date will be November 15, 2004, for applicants that are
selected that submitted a proposal on that date. All other projects will begin on January 10, 2005,
if selected.
If you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to contact Lisa C.
