    MEETINGS

The Dale Hickam Excellent Teaching Program is about to undergo some very exciting processing
changes. In addition to working with National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) staff
to develop a more efficient system for processing candidate applications, we are working to streamline
state processes as well. We are hopeful that we will be able to implement these new processes beginning
    December 1, 2004.

The Bureau will be hosting two “drive-in” meetings in November to discuss all of the DHETP processes.
Included below is logistical information relevant to these meetings. We have planned the agenda to
enable you to drive-in to the meeting and return home the same day. Unfortunately, we will not be able to
    pay for any travel expenses.

    Monday, November 15, 2004 - Tallahassee

The meeting will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in Room 1703-07 of the Turlington Building. The
address of the building is 325 West Gaines Street. No meals will be provided, but there is a cafeteria on
    the 1
    st
floor that has a daily breakfast and lunch, as well as vending machines. There is metered parking
all along the perimeter of the building. Should you require overnight accommodations you may contact
Comfort Suites which is located at 1026 Apalachee Parkway. The reservations number is 850-224-3200.
Ask for the government rate of $89 plus tax per night.
