2004-05 NCLB:Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT) Grant Program [RFA/RFP]
(Title II, Part D of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act)
Federal EETT grant funding has been authorized for distribution to eligible school districts. The EETT
program provides annual formula funding as well as competitive opportunities. Approximately $29.3 million
has been approved to support local projects in the current fiscal year. Formal applications have been posted on
the Office of Educational Technology website (http://www.doe.firn.edu/edtech/). Specific program
participation guidelines and funding options are prescribed within two separate applications (EETT Part I-
    entitlement and EETT Part II-competitive).
October 19, 2004 has been established as the due date for
submission of 2004-05 EETT competitive proposals.
A seven week application period has been established
to facilitate participation by districts significantly impacted by Hurricane Charley. If your district is in the
impact area and you feel that meeting the established deadline will not be feasible, please notify the Office of
Educational Technology in writing by September 13.
The EETT program has been designed to promote “
    technology literacy
” among students, teachers, and school
administrators. Identifying and infusing research-based instructional tools and training methods are also key
objectives of this national initiative. Helping teachers acquire the skills needed to appropriately integrate
technology into the curriculum is an important aspect of the EETT program. Developing and maintaining an
effective district level technology planning process is critical to achieving long-term goals of the EETT
program. District technology plan content guidelines and development resources are available on the Office of
    Educational Technology website.
Providing equitable technology-enhanced learning opportunities for all students is essential in the
    21
    st
    Century,
and we look forward to your continued participation in this exciting program. As with all federal grant
programs, it is important to address program planning and accountability expectations in a timely manner. If
you or staff in your district have questions or require special assistance regarding the referenced project
applications, program planning requirements, or project related interim and final reporting expectations, please
    contact Charles Proctor at: 850/245-0514, SC 205-0514, e-mail: Charles.Proctor@fldoe.org.
