SUBJECT:
Request for Proposals – Adult Education and Family Literacy,
Middle School Literacy
A new competitive Request for Proposals (RFPs) is available from the Office of Workforce
Education for Middle School Literacy. The purpose of the grant is to improve the literacy skills
of at-risk middle school students by working with their under-educated parents. The program
will provide families with activities to develop skills that will enable children to stay in school
and successfully complete their education. Projects are competitive statewide, and proposals will
be evaluated, scored and ranked by professionals from the field.
Also, due to complications of Hurricane Charley, the due date for the Twelfth Grade Options
application and the re-advertisement for English Literacy and Civics Education have been
extended to September 30
th
. If applications for either of these projects have been submitted, they
do not need to be resubmitted for the extended application period.
The RFP is available at Web site http://www.firn.edu/doe/dwdgrants/grants.htm. Due date for
applications is September 30, 2004.
If you have any questions regarding this RFP, please contact Teresa Bestor, (850) 245-9047 or
Teresa.Bestor@fldoe.org.
We look forward to receiving your proposals.
