MEMORANDUM
TO:
MIS CONTACTS
FROM:
Edward Croft
SUBJECT:
NCLB School Public Accountability Reports (SPARs)
This notice is being sent to MIS student database contacts and coordinators of accountability in all school
districts. The 2003-04 NCLB School Public Accountability Reports (SPARs) are now available for
electronic access by authorized district personnel. District files include a printable text file as well as
a raw data file. File names are listed below (where ## represents the district number).
NCLB SPAR print file: DPS##.GE.F70405.Y0304
NCLB SPAR data file: DPS##.GE.F70396.Y0304
AYP Report print file: DPS##.GE.F70417.Y0304
A record layout for the data file is available as a downloadable dataset under the name
DPS.FORMAT.TECH.Y0304 .
Note that the reports include required indicators for the NCLB state report card. The department has also
produced a printable report covering schools’ AYP status (DPS##.GE.F70417.Y0304), including a list of
the district’s Title I schools identified for school improvement. Keep in mind that the most detailed
information on the AYP status of schools and districts can be found online at
http://web.fldoe.org/NCLB/default.cfm. Information at this site will updated upon completion of the
review process for AYP appeals.
The 2003-04 NCLB SPARs require no locally added indicators prior to distribution/publication.

Requirements for notifying parents about the reports and for making the reports available (via
distribution or publication) are the same as for last year’s reports. The department emphasizes that
schools/districts are responsible for preparing a supply of reports that will be adequate for parents
who may request printed copies.
If you have questions about this release, please feel free to contact me. Thanks for your continuing
hard work in providing information on the status of Florida’s public schools.
