SUBJECT:
DOE/FLAG Workshop for Teachers New to Gifted Education
The Florida Department of Education (DOE) and the Florida Association for the Gifted (FLAG)
are pleased to announce the DOE/FLAG Workshop for Teachers New to Gifted Education to be
held on July 26, 2004, in Tampa, Florida. The workshop will provide
information about curriculum, instruction, and assessment for gifted students
tips for managing classrooms in various service delivery models
opportunities for networking and mentoring with veteran gifted teachers.
The workshop will be held in the College of Education on the University of South Florida
campus, 4202 East Fowler Avenue, Tampa, Florida, on July 26, 2004, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and
concluding by approximately 4:00 p.m. There is no registration fee; however, all travel expenses
are the responsibility of the individual participant or school district.
A block of guestrooms has been reserved at the La Quinta Inn, 3701 East Fowler Avenue,
Tampa, for the evening of Sunday, July 25, 2004, at the rate of $69.00 per night (single/double).
Reservations may be made directly with the La Quinta by phoning (813) 910-7500. Be sure to
request the DOE/FLAG room rate. Reservations made after July 10, 2004, will be subject to rate
and space availability. Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance.
A shuttle from the
Tampa International Airport will cost from $12 to $25 each way from the airport to the hotel.
