Governor Bush and Commissioner Horne recently announced the FCAT results for 12
th
grade
students. The Department of Education also disseminated materials via memo dated April 19, 2004,
to provide support to schools and school districts related to assistance for 12
th
grade students who
did not earn passing scores on the March 2004 administration of FCAT.
In addition to those materials, we are proud to announce additional options and support activities for
12
th
grade students who have not earned passing scores on the grade 10 FCAT. Effective May 1,
2004, students will be able to access online resources and choose one of the following options:

General Educational Development (GED) preparation courses that will accelerate the pace
at which a student can earn a State of Florida diploma

To assist your staff, we have scheduled a series of conference calls for April 30, 2004, to provide
procedures for school staff to assist students in accessing the online resources. We encourage
principals and guidance counselors to participate in the conference calls to ensure that they are
prepared to facilitate students’ success with these materials.
Please find attached the schedule and agenda for the conference calls. We ask that you share these
materials with your school and district staff.
