    JEB BUSH
    GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA
     
     
     
    School Library Media Month 2004
     
     
    WHEREAS
    , learning to become effective users of information and ideas is
    essential as Florida’s youth prepare for a future characterized by change; and
     
    WHEREAS
    , school library media centers provide access to information within the
    school and to resources outside the school; and
     
    WHEREAS
    , school library programs promote literacy and the enjoyment of
    reading; and
     
    WHEREAS
    , library media specialists play a vital role in the teaching and learning
    process; and
     
    WHEREAS
    , promoting competencies in new and developing technologies is an
    integral part of school library media programs; and
     
    WHEREAS
    , school library media programs are an important asset in the
    education of the youth of the state;
     
    NOW, THEREFORE
    , I, Jeb Bush, Governor of the State of Florida, do hereby
    extend greetings and best wishes to all observing April 2004, as
    School Library Media
    Month.
