“Creating Tomorrow: Preparing and Retaining Florida’s
Highly Qualified Personnel”
May 12-14, 2004, Adams Mark Hotel,
Clearwater Beach, Florida
We are pleased to announce that the Bureau and the Florida CSPD Project will be sponsoring the
10
th
Annual Florida CSPD Institute: “
Creating Tomorrow: Preparing and Retaining Florida’s
Highly Qualified Personnel
” on May 12-14, at the Adams Mark Hotel, Clearwater Beach,
Florida. The purposes of this institute are to: (1) provide training for Regional ESE Professional
Development Partnerships in innovative strategies, critical issues, and trends in curriculum
design intended to enhance student outcomes; (2) facilitate the regional professional
development planning process; (3) maintain the Florida CSPD network that identifies and
addresses regional needs for personnel development; and (4) share information on major
statewide initiatives and practices regarding Florida’s goals to enhance student outcomes in
general and in exceptional student education.
The products of the 10
th
Annual Florida CSPD Institute will be information, guiding principles,
and models to assure the preparation of highly qualified personnel and to infuse this information
into Florida’s Regional ESE Professional Development Partnership Plans. The proposed

outcomes include effective recruitment and retention strategies and research validated
professional development approaches that support a high performing workforce and improved
student outcomes.
All participants from the Regional ESE Professional Development Partnerships are invited to
attend this institute. The Florida CSPD Project will fund travel expenses and per diem for ten
members of each Partnership. The attendees should be members of the Regional Advisory
Council and should represent:
•
public university special education, communication disorders, and physical and
occupational therapy training programs;
•
district exceptional student education administrators;
•
district student services administrators;
•
general education administrators;
•
district’s contact persons for psychology, counseling and guidance, speech-language,
and OT/PT, and other related services personnel;
•
private college/university training program representatives;
•
FDLRS center managers and contact persons;
•
Part C early intervention program personnel;
•
staff development administrators;
•
general and special education teachers;
•
parents of students with disabilities; and
•
additional persons may attend at local expense.

Annual Florida CSPD Institute and share your perspectives,
experiences, and values on shaping personnel preparation in Florida. To make reservations at the

of $105.00 has been secured for CSPD Institute participants, provided you make your
reservations prior to the

. After that date, the hotel cannot guarantee the
