Enclosed is a sample of a product recently developed by the Accountability and Assessment for Students
with Disabilities Project based at the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium/Washington County
School Board.

As you know, content assessed in alternate assessments should reflect the same content areas assessed by
meeting the requirements for alternate assessment in the area of science, as science is a content area that
is being assessed on the FCAT beginning in the 2003-2004 school year, for grades 5, 8, and 10. Included
in this product is a six-step procedure for developing specific alternate assessment activities for science.
