SUBJECT:
Identifying Students Who Need Special Assistance to Succeed—Postsecondary
Attached is a new Technical Assistance (TA) Paper to assist you in correctly (and legally)
identifying postsecondary students with disabilities who require special assistance in order to
succeed in their chosen program of study. Please share it with those in your organization that
might benefit from this information. Contact information for further questions that you may have
is included in the body of the TA paper.
This TA Paper was collaboratively written by the Florida Department of Education’s Division of
Community Colleges and Workforce Education and the Bureau of Instructional Support and
Community Services program staff as a result of a question from the field that was felt to have
broad interest statewide. If there are other topics where a TA Paper would be useful to you,
please contact one of these offices. We welcome the opportunity to more fully meet the needs
of our stakeholders through timely, quality technical assistance.
