SUBJECT: Spanish Version of the Parent Booklet on Transition from
IDEA, Part C to B
The Bureau of Instructional Support and Community Services is pleased to provide you with copies of the
Spanish version of the parent booklet, Transition, developed by Florida’s Transition Project for Infants,
Young Children and their Families. The project focuses on assisting communities in developing smooth,
community-wide transition systems to help families with young children, prenatal to kindergarten, with
disabilities and special health care needs move from one agency or program to another.
This booklet is to provide parents whose native language is Spanish with an overview of what occurs
when a child turns three years old and leaves the Children’s Medical Services Infants and Toddlers Early
Intervention Program to attend other programs in the community or enter the school system. The booklet
highlights questions that have been frequently asked by families about this transition. It also includes
descriptions of many statewide programs that may be available in local communities. This booklet will
be available on the project website at www.floridatransitionproject.com by December 17, 2003.
We appreciate your assistance in disseminating the enclosed booklets and information to your colleagues
and others in the community who work with young children with disabilities and their families. If you
need additional copies, please contact the Clearinghouse Information Center (CIC), 325 West Gaines
Street, Room 628, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0400, or by phone at (850) 245-0477; or Bettianne Ford,
Coordinator of Florida’s Transition Project, at bettianne@floridatransitionproject.com or (352) 372-2573.
