SUBJECT:
Common Course Numbering for PSAV Programs
It is my pleasure to announce that we have completed the assignment of common course
numbers to all of our Postsecondary Adult Vocational (PSAV) programs per legislative
requirements in Florida Statutes 1007.24. The numbers are available upon inquiry to the
Common Course Numbering (CCN) office at the Department of Education at (850) 245-9544
and are also included in the attachment to this memo. We can now proceed with the
development of electronic transcripts for our career and technical education (CTE) students.
The attachment contains each PSAV program available in our CTE inventory and has been
broken down by Occupational Completion Points (OCPs). The CCN office had already assigned
many numbers to PSAV programs by OCPs so we continued to use that process in the
assignment of the rest of the numbers for each program.
We asked the CCN office to assign course numbers to the OCPs in increments of 450 hours
(after discussion with many practitioners about the average clock hour length of a semester at a
technical center). Each OCP has been assigned at least one CCN number. If an OCP was 0-450
hours in length, it was assigned one course number. If an OCP was over 450 hours in length, it
was assigned more than one course number. This would allow for registration and reporting of
OCPs that extend over several semesters.
