    Dear Teachers, Lead Educators, School District Contacts, and Program Directors:

    The Juvenile Justice Educational Enhancement Program (JJEEP) recognizes a continuing need to honor
    outstanding teachers who contribute to the educational growth and development of students in juvenile justice
    programs. JJEEP invites you to participate in the Juvenile Justice Teacher of the Year (TOY) Award for 2003
    using the enclosed application materials.

    The application process was delayed this year because the Department of Education and JJEEP determined that the
    TOY application should reflect the spirit of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) initiative. The JJEEP committee
    spent some time studying the principles of NCLB and identified relevant elements. We are certain that this
    additional requirement will enhance the TOY award process. JJEEP Teacher of the Year Committee members for
    2003 are Norman Bartelle, Linda Mailly, Linda Rushing, Kay Kincl, Thelma Nolan, Roy Scott, and Penny Young.

    Please help JJEEP continue this tradition of recognizing the finest of Florida's hardworking and talented juvenile
    justice teachers by participating in the 2003 Juvenile Justice Teacher of the Year Award.
    All applicants mu
    st

    Department of Juvenile Justice, and practicing teachers evaluate the applications. Each regional winner will
    receive a plaque and a $500 award; the statewide winner will receive a $1000 honorarium.
