Florida Department of Law Enforcement Fingerprinting Fee Increase
Senate Bill 10A was passed during the Legislative Special Session A and was signed by Governor Bush
on June 26, 2003. The law increases the fingerprint-processing fee charged by the Florida Department of
Law Enforcement (FDLE) from $15 to $23 per name for individuals being fingerprinted by authorized
entities including public school districts and the Bureau of Educator Certification. The increase is
effective July 1, 2003.
Please be advised that the total fingerprint-processing fee that must be charged to the applicant will be
commensurate with the FDLE increase effective July 1, 2003. For those nonpublic schools’ applicants
who are processed via hard cards through the Bureau of Educator Certification the total cost for printing
will increase from $45.00 to $53.00.
The applicant fee for on-site livescan processing through the public school districts will increase from
$52.00 to $60.00. There is no action necessary by the public school district to adjust the actual livescan
machine; such adjustment will be an internal software change completed by the vendor. The school
district will, however, be responsible for notifying potential applicants of the increase and collecting the
appropriate fee for livescan processing.
We regret this very short notice and apologize for any inconvenience you or your district may incur as a
result. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Bureau of Educator Certification at
(850)245-0431 or the Bureau of Professional Practices at (850)245-0438.
