SUBJECT:
INVITATION TO THE FLORIDA SCHOOL HEALTH SUMMER INSTITUTE
Your district is invited to participate in the Sixth Annual Florida School Health Summer Institute. This
event will explore the Coordinated School Health Model and focus on the development of strategies to
enhance student outcomes. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss current health issues, to plan
for long-term school and district health education systems improvements, to learn about potential grant
opportunities for schools and districts, and to examine the relationship between student health and
academic achievement.
Featured speakers will include Bob Hagemann, Principal, Macintosh Middle
School, Dr. Joyce Fetro from University of Illinois, and Dr. Jo Anne Owens-Nauslar from the American
Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. The eight current Coordinated School
Health Pilot Schools will also present a showcase of their accomplishments through the CSHP program.
The Institute will be presented June 19-20, 2003, in Orlando, Florida, at the Sheraton Safari Hotel.
Registration information and a tentative agenda are enclosed.
