Mr. Flores is responsible for the agency that congress has mandated to addr
ess
the public safety issues of juvenile crime and youth victimization. His OJJDP
leadership responsibilities include identifying ef
fective strategies for addressing
juvenile crime thr
ough research; coordinating, implementing, and suppor
ting
effective programs and encouraging innovative
approaches to deal with existing and emer
ging juvenile
justice issues; developing priorities and goals and setting
policies to guide federal juvenile justice issues; pr
oviding
technical assistance and training to essential
components of the juvenile justice system; disseminating
infor
mation on juvenile justice tr
ends, programs, and
new approaches; and awar
ding funds to states to suppor
t
local programming nationwide.
Dr. Bruce I. Wolford
is Dir
ector of the Easter
n Kentucky
University (EKU) T
raining Resour
ce Center (TRC).
The
Center provides training, facilitation, research, and
evaluation ser
vices to a variety of public and private
sector clients.
He has ser
ved as a Professor of
Correctional and Juvenile Justice Studies in the College
of Justice and Safety at EKU since 1979.
Dr. Wolford
has worked in the areas of staf
f development, training
and facilitation in cor
rections, juvenile justice and child
welfare for the past 30 years.
Dr. Wolford cur
rently ser
ves on the Board of Gover
nors of the American
Correctional Association, and is a past pr
esident of the Cor
rectional Education
Association.
Bruce earned his Ph.D. in adult education and administration of
criminal justice fr
om Ohio State University
. Prior to joining the faculty at EKU
he worked a teacher
, counselor and administrator in the Ohio cor
rectional
system.
