2003 JUVENILE JUSTICE EDUCATION INSTITUTE AND SOUTHERN
CONFERENCE ON CORRECTIONS
We are pleased to announce the
Juvenile Justice Education Institute and Southern
Conference on Corrections
, to be held at the Walt Disney World Hilton in Orlando on
July 22-24, 2003. The Institute will provide important information concerning No Child
Left Behind, Just Read, Florida!, and career and technical education. Your participation
in this statewide opportunity for professional development is essential to achieving our
common goals of quality educational programs provided to students served by the
Department of Juvenile Justice.
The first day will be devoted to providing vital information concerning the
implementation of state and federal requirements, including No Child Left Behind and
Just Read, Florida!
In addition, Department staff will provide information to help school district and facility
staff design and implement career and technical education services for juvenile justice
students.

Over the following two days, 30 workshops representing state and local expertise,

research-based instructional strategies, and best practices in juvenile justice education

will be offered. Bruce Wolford, a nationally renowned speaker on juvenile justice
€
education, will provide a keynote address. J. Robert Flores, Administrator of the Office
€
of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, will speak on juvenile justice trends,
€
programs, and new approaches.
