SUBJECT:
FACTE
Conference
This year at the FACTE conference in Kissimmee, Florida the Florida Department of Education
(DOE) is proud to announce training on a free software package. The software package will
allow you to track students while they are in cooperative education programs or any training
method that requires you to track multiple students engaged in hands-on training.
The Vocational Technical Educational Consortium of States (VTECS) and the DOE will provide
training on student tracking software and curriculum building software. The student tracking
software is Windows based and the software for curriculum competency lists is currently FoxPro
based (soon to be Windows). This software is free for accepting and completing the training.
You can find information about the software on the VTECS website at
http://www.V-TECS.org. “VTECS Connect® 2.0 is a breakthrough upgrade of VTECS’ popular
work-based learning management software system. As a multi-faceted system, Connect 2.0 has
a fresh, bold, new look, as well as added usability and versatility for the end-users.”

“VTECS DIRECT 4+
is designed to manage occupational analysis information” and enables
you to customize existing information to meet your requirements, enter and manage your own
information, and review and/or select specific elements in a variety of ways. There are hundreds
of industry verified occupational standards for many program areas.
The VTECS training activity is currently in the planning stage, and I need information on how
many participants to expect. We should have room for about 25 participants--this may change
based on computer lab availability. Participation will be on a first-come basis. If you are
interested in having one of your teachers or computer management personnel attend, please
contact me at Andy.Anderman@fldoe.org or (850) 414-8574. I will need an e-mail with
information on the participant which should include e-mail address, phone number, full name,
and address. I cannot accept a participant without this information.
Attendees will need to be very comfortable with a computer and able to load software. The
training will be fast-paced and can be frustrating if computer skills are weak.
