Identification of the Top 20% of the Graduating Class of 2006 for the
Talented 20 Program
The State Board of Education has identified Highest Student Achievement and
Seamless Articulation and Maximum Access as two of its primary goals. In the effort to
support these goals, the Department of Education needs your help to identify students
in the class of 2006 who rank in the top 20% of their graduating class and who may be
eligible for the Talented 20 program. The attached document,
Technical Specifications
for the Submission of Talented 20 Data,
provides details related to data submission.
The Florida Department of Education’s website (FDOE), www.fldoe.org, now has a
dedicated link for the Talented 20 program at www.fldoe.org/Talented20/. This web
page provides general information on the Talented 20 program, answers frequently
asked questions, and includes the program report for last year’s graduating class. After
February 9, 2006, this link also will provide high school counselors and other educators
with the opportunity to view district and school student eligibility data online. District
Talented 20 program contacts were sent a district and school specific listing of Talented
20 program logon identifications via email at the end of January. Beginning with the
identification of the top 20% of the graduating class of 2006 for the Talented 20
program, student eligibility reports may be downloaded from the Talented 20 program
link and will no longer be downloaded from the Northwest Regional Data Center
(NWRDC). The attachment provides detailed instructions for downloading student
eligibility data.
