Technical Assistance Paper on the Implementation of the Class Size Amendment in
Charter
Schools
In support of the State Board of Education’s imperative to increase the quantity and improve the quality of
educational options for Florida’s families, the Department is pleased to provide a technical assistance paper
(TAP) on the Implementation of the Class Size Amendment in Charter Schools. The TAP provides guidance
on class size reduction accountability planning requirements for charter schools and answers questions that
the Department is frequently asked about charter school class size reduction. Please review and consider this
information when planning for changes that may be necessary for the current school year and budgeting for
the 2006-2007 school year.
We are available to provide assistance as you and your staff develop your school’s 2005-06 Class Size
Reduction Plan as described in the TAP and implement strategies to meet the class size reduction
requirements. For additional information or questions regarding the implementation of the class size
reduction requirement, please contact Karen Hines-Henry at (850) 245-0502 or karen.hines@fldoe.org.
