ADMINISTRATORS’ MANAGEMENT MEETING FOR EXCEPTIONAL
EDUCATION AND STUDENT SERVICES PERSONNEL AND CASE/FASSA
SPECIAL ISSUES SEMINAR RESCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 2-5, 2004,
AT ORLANDO WORLD CENTER MARRIOTT
We are pleased to announce that the Administrators’ Management Meeting (AMM) has been
rescheduled for November 3-5, 2004, and will be held at the Orlando World Center Marriott
(note location change). AMM is being held in conjunction with the Florida CASE/FASSA
Special Issues Seminar which will be held at the same hotel on November 2 (see information
below); because this is Election Day, we encourage you to vote early or vote absentee so that you
can attend this important event.
AMM and the CASE/FASSA Seminar are designed for administrators of district exceptional
student education and student services programs, Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources
System (FDLRS) Centers and other special projects, and state agency programs and residential
schools; and for representatives of related college and university training programs.
AMM Program
The AMM program will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 3, and conclude no later
than 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November 5. As you will note from the attached agenda, our
Wednesday sessions will feature DOE and BEESS updates, including current information on

IDEA reauthorization and followup to 2004 legislation, the State Improvement Plan/Annual

Performance Report and data-driven programs, concurrent sessions, and district size-alike

discussions. There will be a reception that evening honoring Bambi Lockman, our new Bureau

Chief. Thursday will continue concurrent sessions on hot topics identified from the field. Friday
?
will begin with a workshop for all participants on our final program rules; include another round
?
of size-alikes to identify statewide concerns and issues; and conclude with a general session
?
featuring Bambi Lockman, who will address new directions for exceptional education and
?
student services.
Attendees should make their travel plans to ensure participation in the total
?
meeting.

CASE/FASSA Seminar (November 2 [Election Day], 9:00 a.m.—4:00 p.m.)
This Special Issues Seminar will feature legal expert Charlie Weatherly speaking on legally
defensible programming for students with autism and the evolving definitions of FAPE,
eligibility, and educational benefit. We hope that you and your key staff will take part in this
important seminar. Prior registrations will be honored and must be cancelled if you do not plan
to attend (call 850.487.7158). If you did not register previously, you must complete and return
the attached “Florida CASE & FASSA Registration Form” to FAX number 850.487.7823.
AMM and the CASE/FASSA Seminar will be held at the Orlando World Center Marriott, 8701
World Center Drive, Orlando, Florida (please see attached location map and driving directions).
Rooms are available at the special rate of $99. single or double (plus 11.5% tax). Please specify
“DOE/AMM” to obtain these rates. Individual reservations should be made directly with the
hotel by calling 1.800.564.3181

Hotel parking is available for $10. (valet) or $5. (self-
parking); for the latter, you may want to utilize the North Tower lot.
