Preparation of Leadership Personnel

PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
The purpose of this program is to train personnel at
the preservice doctoral or post-doctoral level in early intervention, special
education, or related services, and at the advanced graduate level (masters and
specialists) in special education administration/supervision. In order to be eligible
under this priority, programs must provide training and support for scholars to
complete their training within the project period of the grant.

Approximately $200,000.

Combined Personnel Preparation

PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
The purpose of this program is to improve the quality,
and increase the number, of personnel who are fully credentialed to serve
infants, toddlers, and children with disabilities—especially in areas of chronic
personnel shortage—by supporting projects that prepare early intervention,
special education, and related services personnel at the associate, baccalaureate,
master’s, and specialist levels.
DEADLINE:
September 9, 2008.
ESTIMATED AVERAGE SIZE OF AWARDS:
Approximately $175,000.
Estimated number of awards is 14-23.

PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
The purpose of this program is to improve the quality
of K–12 special education teacher preparation programs and ensure that program
graduates meet the highly qualified teacher (HQT) requirements under sections
602(10) of IDEA, and are well prepared to serve children with high incidence
disabilities. For purposes of this priority, the term ‘‘high incidence disabilities’’
refers to learning disabilities, emotional disturbance, or mental retardation. In
order to be eligible under this priority, applicants must currently prepare special
education personnel (at the baccalaureate or master’s level) to serve school age
children with high incidence disabilities.
DEADLINE:
September 19, 2008.
ESTIMATED AVERAGE SIZE OF AWARDS:
Approximately $125,000.
Estimated number of awards is 21.

RGK Foundation / RGK Foundation Grant Program
PROGRAM:
RGK Foundation Grant Program
PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
The purpose of the RGK Foundation is to award grants
in the extensive areas of education, community, and medicine/health. The
Foundation's main interest within education includes programs that focus on
proper K-12 education (particularly mathematics, science and reading), teacher
development, literacy, and higher education.
DEADLINE:
September 5, 2008.
ESTIMATED AVERAGE SIZE OF AWARDS:
Approximately $25,000
ELIGIBILITY:
Nonprofit organizations certified as tax exempt under Sections
501(c)(3) or 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code and are classified as "not a
private foundation" under Section 509(a). Hospitals, educational institutions, and
governmental institutions meeting these requirements are eligible to apply.

Pay It Forward Foundation / Pay It Forward Mini-Grants
PROGRAM:
Pay It Forward Mini-Grants

PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
The purpose of the Pay It Forward Mini-Grants is
intended to fund one-time-only service-oriented projects identified by youth as
activities they would like to carry out to benefit their school, neighborhood, or
greater community. Projects must enclose a "pay it forward" focus - that is, they
must be based on the idea of one person doing a favor for others, who in turn do
favors for others, with the results increasing exponentially - to be considered in
the grant making process.
DEADLINE:
September 15, 2008.
ESTIMATED AVERAGE SIZE OF AWARDS:
Approximately $500
ELIGIBILITY:
Schools, churches, and community youth groups (with an adult
sponsor) may apply for funding. Youths or adults may write the application.
Groups whose members are all over the age of 18 must include work with youth
under the age of 18 as part of their projects.

Kids in Need / Kids in Need Teacher Grants
PROGRAM:
Kids in Need Teacher Grants
PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
Kids in Need Teacher Grants provides small grants
that support innovative teachers' projects. The purpose of the grant program is
to provide funds for classroom teachers with innovative, worthy ideas.
DEADLINE:
September 30, 2008.
ESTIMATED AVERAGE SIZE OF AWARDS:
$100-$500
ELIGIBILITY:
K-12 certified teacher working at a public, private, or parochial
school.
