PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
Emergency Management for Higher Education
(EMHE) Grant Program supports the effort by higher education institutions to
develop, or review and improve, and fully integrate, campus-based all-hazards
emergency management planning efforts within the framework of the four phases
of emergency management (Prevention-Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and
Recovery).
 
DEADLINE:
May 27, 2008.
 
 
ESTIMATED AVERAGE SIZE OF AWARDS:
$50,000 for small-sized institutions;
$250,000 for medium-sized institutions; and $500,000 for large-sized
institutions. Estimated number of awards is 18.

ELIGIBILITY:
Higher education institutions and consortia thereof. For the
purposes of this competition, the term “higher education institutions” includes
those institutions described in sections 101(a), 101(b), and 102 of the Higher
Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA), except that institutions included in
section 102 of the HEA are eligible only to the extent that they are located within
the United States (including Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands, Guam,
American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands).

The Training Program provides grants to train staff
and leadership personnel employed in, participating in, or preparing for
employment in, projects funded under the Federal TRIO Programs to improve the

AT&T High School Success Special Grants Program – Project Support
 
PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
The AT&T Foundation is launching a new grant
program focused on high school success for at-risk students. The program will
direct funds to eligible nonprofit organizations and schools across the country.
Project support is for existing high school retention programs with a successful

track record of achieving effective results. The support may be used to continue
programs in their current form, expand them to serve additional students, or add
a component to strengthen the program. Project support is intended for
programs that are ready to operate in their current or modified form by the first
semester of the 2008 - 2009 school year.
 
DEADLINE:
May 19, 2008.
 
 
ESTIMATED AVERAGE SIZE OF AWARDS:
$50,000 - $100,000 a year for up
to four years.
 
ELIGIBILITY:
School districts and school district foundations, charter school
foundations and private school foundations, and 501(c)(3) public charity status
nonprofit organizations that work on-site with public and private education
institutions or that work with public and private education institutions on a
project basis.

Capacity-Building Support
 
PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
The AT&T Foundation is launching a new grant
program focused on high school success for at-risk students. The program will
direct funds to eligible nonprofit organizations and schools across the country.
Planning/capacity-building funding is for projects that need additional planning
time and resources. Applicants for these grants must demonstrate that they will
be able to identify the administrative, financial and programmatic support needed
to commence program implementation during the first semester of the 2009 -
2010 school year.
 
DEADLINE:
May 19, 2008.
 
 
ESTIMATED AVERAGE SIZE OF AWARDS:
$25,000 - $35,000.
 
ELIGIBILITY:
School districts and school district foundations, charter school
foundations and private school foundations, and 501(c)(3) public charity status
nonprofit organizations that work on-site with public and private education
institutions or that work with public and private education institutions on a
project basis.
